Angelina Jolie- A Non-Traditional Actress Or Mother
Angelina Jolie is well known all over the world for her movies, her humanitarian work and for being a non-conformist in just about every possible way. Starting with her movies, she has played many diverse roles over the years. From a female hacker in “Hackers”, one of her first roles, to a mental patient in “Girl, Interrupted”, an Oscar-winning turn, to a video game action star in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”, the role that finally made her famous. Since “ Tomb Raider”, Jolie has continued with her wide variety of roles, though she now has the tag of being an action actress and is still being tapped for those types of roles.
Through her humanitarian work, which began after she filmed “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”, she eventually adopted three children from some of the places she visited. Maddox from Cambodia, Pax from Vietnam and Zahara from Ethiopia. Besides adopting these three multicultural kids, she has also had three kids with her partner, Brad Pitt. Her first daughter was born in Namibia and in an unusual move, she and Pitt sold the first pictures of their daughter through an image distributor rather than let the paparazzi have the first chance at taking them. The couple stated that the profits were given to charity. Later, when she had twins, she did a similar thing by selling the first pictures to two different companies.
Jolie’s detractors tend to say that she is more interested in being in the spotlight than anything else and that some of these moves regarding her kids reflect that. However, as a non-traditional, non-conformist person, she is more likely simply doing what seems right to her at the time. This can be easily seen through both her professional career and her personal life
