Angelina Jolie is a Little too Famous… Huh?
Apparently Angelina Jolie is just a little too famous – so famous that she supposedly makes you forget about the products she’s paid to endorse. The gorgeous mom, humanitarian, and Oscar-winner was replaced as the face of fashion house St. John, because her presence, according to company CEO Glenn McMahon, “overshadowed the brand.”
Next month, the new ads launch in Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, starring redhead Karen Elson, instead.
“We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blonds and cleanse the palette,” McMahon told Women’s Wear Daily. “We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John; we have evolved.”
I’m not sure I’d call moving from Angelina Jolie to Karen Elson (???) exactly evolving… but whatevs.
