Angelina Jolie Makes a List to Be Extra Proud Of
Not surprisingly, Angelina Jolie (she placed 6th) made the list of the Daily Beast’s list of top 50 Charitable Celebrities.
From the Site:
International movie star Angelina Jolie attracted more than 1,800 mentions for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, where she has served as a goodwill ambassador since 2001, and garnered the most television coverage of any celebrity on our list. In June, she and husband Brad Pitt gave $1 million to the organization to help those displaced during military violence in Pakistan, a country she has visited three times since her U.N. affiliation. She also visited Iraq for the third time this summer, pledging to a local family she would return: “I want to come back and find you in a better place and in a different situation. You need help not because you are poor, but because you are the future of Iraq.” She and Pitt have donated to other organizations, as well. Last year, the couple gave more than $13 million to nonprofit organizations, which was parsed out through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation to 17 organizations including Human Rights Watch, Global Health, and Pitt’s Make It Right foundation.
