Angelina Jolie Says Her Vegan Diet Nearly Killed Her

Gorgeous Angelina Jolie has blamed her vegan diet for “nearly killing” her. She has also said that she loves to eat red meat.

The Salt star says that when she restricted her diet to not include any animal products, it had negative effects on her health.

“I joke that a big juicy steak is my beauty secret. But seriously, I love red meat. I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition,” said Jolie.

The 35-year-old beauty also said she enjoys seeing her hands “grow older” as it is a sign of how much she has matured as a mother to her six children with partner Brad Pitt.

“Happiness is when I look down at my hands and they are washing a baby. I can sort of see my hands grow older and I love it,” she said.

Angelina Jolie to Begin Shooting a War Love Story

ABC News reports that Angelina Jolie is starting work on a movie about a love story set during the 1992-95 Bosnian War.

Angelina Jolie has said that shooting will begin in the autumn on the tale of a couple who meet on the eve of the war and the effect it has on their relationship.

“The film is a love story, not a political statement,” Jolie said in a statement issued on Saturday by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for whom she is a goodwill ambassador.

The mega-popular star and activist arrived in Sarajevo on Friday. On Saturday, she met with members of Bosnia’s inter-ethnic presidency to discuss ways to help thousands of returning war refugees.

Angelina and Brad Pitt visited returnees in eastern Bosnia in April and promised, then, to come back.

She said the movie’s cast would be comprised of actors from the various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia.

“I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can,” Jolie said.

*** By the way, Angelina recently stated that she would NOT be starring as Marilyn Monroe in a movie about the infamous sex star. It’s tough to keep up with all the rumors!

Angelina Jolie Talks About Her Babies, Brad, and Fake Blood

At Monday’s London premiere of Salt, Angelina Jolie admitted to UsMagazine.com that her and Brad Pitt’s kids love to play with fake blood on movie sets. I think most kids would get an icky kick out that.

Angelina said that her litle ones (Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5 and Shiloh, 4) would often come with her on the set of Salt. “I would bring them in early in the mornings…and I’d let them [use] blood,” she said.

“So we play together, they try on my wigs, they play with the blood. They know it’s all silly! They test the harnesses and we have them flying around. They know what it is.”

The gorgeous mother pointed to proof that she shed a little of the “real stuff” while filming the action thriller. “I have a little scar right here,” she admitted, pointing to the front of her scalp, describing how she “went smack into a table” during an gun-shooting sequence. “It was a little embarrassing.”

When asked if all of the kids were along for the trip, Angelina said it was just “the babies (Vivienne and Knox, 2). I’m having some special baby time.”

The star also lent some insight into how she and Brad Pitt co-parent. “We’re very much a united front,” she told Us. “They can’t get Mommy to do something Daddy wouldn’t. We’re very much the same. But we take turns working and we bring the kids to each other’s sets, so we try to stay together.”

Angelina Jolie to Play Marilyn Monroe

Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie, 35, is apparently set to play Marilyn Monroe in the movie version of The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, author Andrew O’Hagan tells the London Telegraph.

George Clooney will play Frank Sinatra.

An official announcement has not been made. According to the Telegraph, “The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe follows Monroe’s last two years through the eyes of her pet, Maf, a Maltese terrier which was a gift from Sinatra in 1960.”

Angelina Jolie also is being considered for the role of Cleopatra in another movie based on the life of the infamous, controversial figure.

“I would be honored [to play the role],” Angelina has said. “But we haven’t gotten the script yet.”

Seriously, can’t people ever “get” that you don’t mess with a protective mother’s children?! Angelina Jolie recently defended her four-year-old daughter Shiloh’s decision to dress like a tomboy. She tells Stylist Magazine: “It’s not my choice. I have a very strong-willed four-year-old girl who tells me what she wants to wear and I let her be who she is.”

“People look at kids and think they should wear certain types of clothes. I think children should wear what they want and express themselves. Shiloh cried and said: ‘Please cut my hair off, I don’t want to have long hair.’”

Angelina went on to say, “I’m not going to leave it long because somebody thinks I should. I want her to do what’s in her heart and what’s in her heart is to dress like that. I think it’s beautiful.”

Angelina Jolie adopted her son Maddox during a U.N. trip to Cambodia in Nov. 2001. “There were about 14 kids in the orphanage, and he was the last child I saw,” she told Reader’s Digest. “They put him in my arms, and he was still asleep. Then they put him in a bath, and he stayed asleep. Then I sat with him and he opened his eyes and just stared at me for the longest time. Then he smiled.”

In 2003, Angelina told People magazine, “I feel I’m finally living the life I should be living, and I haven’t had that feeling before.” About her then 2 year old son Maddox, she told People, “He can do his hair in a Mohawk if I put gel in his hand.”

Maddox’s dad, Brad Pitt, fell just as in love with him as he did his mother – officially becoming his father not long after his and Angelina’s relationship was officially announced.

“Mad’s a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically,” Angelina told Vanity Fair about her oldest child. “He’s great at school, great at history. He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things.”

The hottest couple in the world dazzled at Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere of Jolie’s new spy thriller, Salt.

Hundreds upon hundreds of fans turned out as the couple arrived at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Angelina Jolie was as sexy and gorgeous as ever in an Emporio Armani dress and Ferragamo shoes. The gracious stars paused and greeted fans before heading inside for the screening.

At the afterparty, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt held court in a special area, surrounded by security, in the middle of Hollywood & Highland’s Grand Ballroom. One guest of honor was Angelina Jolie’s father,Jon Voight, 71, who shared a hug with his daughter.

Liev Schreiber and his partner, Naomi Watts added to the evening’s star power. Leiv Schreiber, 42, who has two small boys with Watts, told PEOPLE that he bonded with Jolie over parenting during the shoot.

“I think we’re both in that place with our kids where they’re really amazing, right around 3 years old, when all the language starts to come out of them,” Schreiber said. “It’s a very exciting period in someone’s life, both the child’s and the parent’s, and it was fun to bond over that.”

“What’s amazing about [Jolie] is the amount of things going on in her life and how calm she is in the middle of them,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told PEOPLE. “She’s an unbelievably committed mom, and she’s an unbelievably committed actress, and on human rights … it’s a whirlwind going on around her, and in the middle of it she’s as calm as can be.”

I can’t believe SALT is almost here – I may just hyperventilate right in the popcorn line. Seriously, I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a movie. I think it was The Dark Knight or Public Enemies.

Angelina Jolie as Elizabeth Taylor? Please, please, please…

The ridiculously beautiful Elizabeth Taylor and the ridiculously handsome Richard Burton had an epic love affair. The kind of love affair that simply MUST be made into a movie.

Hollywood is putting together just such a movie and several A-list names are being mentioned to play the iconic couple.

Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones have expressed interest in playing Elizabeth Taylor, while Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell would each love to be Richard Burton. Mike Nichols has expressed interest in directing and all the major studios would love to be a part of this film.

The film will be based on the book, Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and the Marriage of the Century, written by husband and wife team Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger. The book tells the story of Taylor and Burton’s legendary tale of love, divorce and remarriage.

Elizabeth Taylor, herself, gave access to never-before-seen materials to the duo during their book research, including Burton’s personal love letters to her. They were also given an unpublished first draft of Taylor’s 1965 autobiography, plus a portfolio of the screen icon’s favorite personal photographs, which are reproduced in the book.

The legendary actress and beauty also allowed interview questions about her and Burton’s long love affair, during which she commented on how he was the great love of her life, the partner in her longest — and shortest — marriages.

Angelina Jolie’s Quote About Politicians in Washington D.C.

Angelina Jolie, actress and activist, was recently promoting Salt in our nation’s capital. She was asked what her opinion was of politicians and Washington D.C. and she summed it up perfectly:

“Something that’s always surprised me when I get inside, and whether it be trying to push for a bill or meeting with people that are high up in power, is how human they are, and how capable they are of making mistakes,” she told us from Washington D.C while promoting her upcoming spy thriller, Salt. “They’re just people, they’re people that have landed in different positions, worked very hard, and for different reasons they’ve ended up in these positions. I think for a long time growing up, you see certain buildings and you think, ‘My God, it must be a different breed…’ something that just is beyond anything I can understand. And then you realize no, it’s just people. We’re all trying to make this work together and elect the right people. When the right people step forward and when the right people come together, extraordinary things can happen.”

When discussing the real life Russian spies and the film (talk about perfect timing!), Angelina said, “(Through the film) we’re getting a sense of what’s possible in the news. When we read (the script), we thought, there’s always been a history of spies and espionage in between countries and certainly Russia’s one of those countries and we have that history. It has happened in the past, so whether it exists today – I think it’s very possible.”
Finally, in regards to the very important work she does around the world:

“I still love spending time with refugees because I just think they are the most extraordinary survivors,” she added. “And so for me, to spend time among people who’ve really lost everything but hope, and are really tough and resilient in getting on with it, and will return and be the future of their country and rebuild it … I just… it’s been a privilege to live with them on occasion for these ten years.”
