Angelina Jolie: Training for Salt

First of all, if you haven’t seen Salt, you HAVE to see it this weekend. It’s, without a doubt, one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. After my husband and I saw it, he was like, “That was a D— good movie.”

And it was.

The script was better than a lot of action movie scripts for one thing. The storyline and back story were outstanding. The directing was superb and the acting was breathtaking. Angelina Jolie and Liev Schreiber were excellent – as you’d expect them to be. Teaming them up for a movie was genius.

The action was the kind that keeps you glued to the screen – afraid to look away because you might miss something. Honestly, it was non-stop and the audience loved every exciting minute.

What makes the whole thing even more remarkable is that in the majority of the scenes, it’s really Angelina Jolie doing the work and not a stunt double!

Angelina’s trainer, Simon Crane, recently told Us Magazine that Jolie does about 99 percent of her own stunts in movies.

Crane said the actress stuck to a diet made up of 70 percent carbohydrates and 30 percent protein and ate four to five meals a day.

As for working out, he had her do anaerobic rather than aerobic exercise so she would gain muscle without losing weight. She also practiced martial arts like Muay Thai and Krav Maga for two hours three or four times a week.

She has to be one of the most dedicated, professional actresses ever.

Angelina Jolie suffered a minor injury while filming Salt, bumping her head after driving through a door.

Crane said she took “a precautionary trip to the hospital” against her will and called her “stubborn.” Reminds you of the characters she plays, doesn’t it?

Let the stupid book and it’s ridiculous statements TRY to generate buzz… Angelina’s haters will love looking for reasons to hate her. I plan to just make MORE noise than the haters do! If her fans (come on, we seriously, seriously, seriously outnumber the haters) will just turn up the volume LOUDER than theirs, we can all but ignore them.

Hit the message boards, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc – drive the haters crazy with all the praising and accolades!

The beard is gone and Brad Pitt is as beautiful as ever! Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were too gorgeous not to stare at – so you can’t really blame the people who did just that.

The hottest couple in the world dazzled at Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere of Jolie’s new spy thriller, Salt.

Hundreds upon hundreds of fans turned out as the couple arrived at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Angelina Jolie was as sexy and gorgeous as ever in an Emporio Armani dress and Ferragamo shoes. The gracious stars paused and greeted fans before heading inside for the screening.

At the afterparty, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt held court in a special area, surrounded by security, in the middle of Hollywood & Highland’s Grand Ballroom. One guest of honor was Angelina Jolie’s father,Jon Voight, 71, who shared a hug with his daughter.

Liev Schreiber and his partner, Naomi Watts added to the evening’s star power. Leiv Schreiber, 42, who has two small boys with Watts, told PEOPLE that he bonded with Jolie over parenting during the shoot.

“I think we’re both in that place with our kids where they’re really amazing, right around 3 years old, when all the language starts to come out of them,” Schreiber said. “It’s a very exciting period in someone’s life, both the child’s and the parent’s, and it was fun to bond over that.”

“What’s amazing about [Jolie] is the amount of things going on in her life and how calm she is in the middle of them,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told PEOPLE. “She’s an unbelievably committed mom, and she’s an unbelievably committed actress, and on human rights … it’s a whirlwind going on around her, and in the middle of it she’s as calm as can be.”

I can’t believe SALT is almost here – I may just hyperventilate right in the popcorn line. Seriously, I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a movie. I think it was The Dark Knight or Public Enemies.

Angelina Jolie’s Quote About Politicians in Washington D.C.

Angelina Jolie, actress and activist, was recently promoting Salt in our nation’s capital. She was asked what her opinion was of politicians and Washington D.C. and she summed it up perfectly:

“Something that’s always surprised me when I get inside, and whether it be trying to push for a bill or meeting with people that are high up in power, is how human they are, and how capable they are of making mistakes,” she told us from Washington D.C while promoting her upcoming spy thriller, Salt. “They’re just people, they’re people that have landed in different positions, worked very hard, and for different reasons they’ve ended up in these positions. I think for a long time growing up, you see certain buildings and you think, ‘My God, it must be a different breed…’ something that just is beyond anything I can understand. And then you realize no, it’s just people. We’re all trying to make this work together and elect the right people. When the right people step forward and when the right people come together, extraordinary things can happen.”

When discussing the real life Russian spies and the film (talk about perfect timing!), Angelina said, “(Through the film) we’re getting a sense of what’s possible in the news. When we read (the script), we thought, there’s always been a history of spies and espionage in between countries and certainly Russia’s one of those countries and we have that history. It has happened in the past, so whether it exists today – I think it’s very possible.”
Finally, in regards to the very important work she does around the world:

“I still love spending time with refugees because I just think they are the most extraordinary survivors,” she added. “And so for me, to spend time among people who’ve really lost everything but hope, and are really tough and resilient in getting on with it, and will return and be the future of their country and rebuild it … I just… it’s been a privilege to live with them on occasion for these ten years.”

Angelina Jolie Hits Washington DC to Promote Salt

Angelina Jolie was in the nation’s capital over the weekend, promoting her new spy thriller, Salt (out July 23). Just a year ago, she managed to avoid the paps and onlookers as she filmed in the Washington DC area.

Chase scenes for the movie, which opens July 23, were filmed with barricades holding hundreds of fans and photographers at bay just out of camera view. Jolie plays the title character, CIA operative Evelyn Salt, who goes on the run after accusations that she is a Russian sleeper agent.

“Salt and I were doing the same thing,” she jokes. “Just trying to keep our heads down and get outta there.”

In an interview Saturday, she also clarified recent remarks that she planned to give up acting someday. Jolie, 35, said she has no immediate plans to retire.

“I like to be very busy. I’m kind of energized. I don’t sit down well,” she says. “In the years to come, it’s not that I’m retiring. There’ll just be less films at some point.

“And I’d love to do other things. I’d love to live in Africa for six months and fly planes. I’d love to see what else there is to do. And artistically, I’m sure there are other things to do.”

Salt is her first film since 2008′s Changeling and the birth of her twins, Knox and Vivienne, who turn 2 today. Being a mom of six with Brad Pitt made getting back to gunslinging and fistfighting — often clinging to the side of a building or leaping from a balcony toward a stone floor — harder than she expected.

“I had a moment my first day, because I hadn’t worked for a year and a half and I’d been home and had babies,” says the actress, who is far more soft-spoken and warm than her tough screen alter egos. “I did my first day back and I thought, ‘What am I doing? I’m somebody’s mother!’ ”

The little ones aren’t shocked to see her play-acting on such grand scales, she says. “I met Brad doing stunts together (on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith), so we’re kind of that family,” she says. “It’s almost expected for Mom to go out and do something like that.”

Part of the reason for her relatively quiet visit was keeping the strike team small. The whole family didn’t join her — only her daughters Zahara, 5, and Shiloh, 4, and they stayed out of sight.

Jolie and Pitt try to film movies at separate times, so one of them is home with the children. When traveling, it’s a chance for special attention, she says. “For example, (the four older children) all came with me to Cancun, and then I came back and spent a lot of time with the babies, because they couldn’t come. Then the girls came to D.C. as a girls’ trip. And the boys, Pax and Maddox, are having special boy-time with Dad” back in Los Angeles.

That means the couple aren’t likely to co-star again, though she wanted Pitt to do a cameo in Salt. Even though it would have been a short scene, the stunt work would have required too much time commitment, so he ended up with babysitting duties.

“He was almost going to be the motorcycle guy that I knocked down, and then he’d call me a bad name,” she says, laughing. “But he was with the kids that day, and we couldn’t work it out.”

Gorgeous actress and activist Angelina Jolie promoted her newest movie, Salt, in Cancun recently. Radiantly beautiful, as ever, Angelina was obviously excited about the upcoming action drama/thriller.

Angelina will play Evelyn Salt – a role which was originally slated to be male… and played by Tom Cruise.

Angelina Jolie Video: Her Stunts in Salt!

Angelina Jolie says, “They can hang me off of the side of a building or on a moving car or anything, and I trust that I’m going to be safe, so I can just play.”

Literally off the side of a building! She hangs off of a twelve-story building in a scene from Salt, in this clip from Entertainment Tonight.

The clip also introduces Salt themed Dayxexists.com, a site that combines storytelling and spy games. New missions will be released every week until July 13.

Columbia Pictures launched the official website for Salt. The action-packed drama starring Angelina Jolie comes to theaters July 23rd, 2010.

In other movie news, Kristen Stewart and Keira Knightley are rumored to be up for the lead female role in Wanted 2. It’d reunite Keira Knightley with James McAvoy, her co-star in Atonement – great chemistry. My fingers are crossed that it’ll be Keira, but Kristen’s an outstanding and beautiful actress as well. Either way, I’m just thrilled the movie’s going to happen. The first one was one of my favorites.

I’m surprised that Megan Fox isn’t up for the role – it seems like she’s always up for new roles like this.

Phillip Noyce didn’t want the 34-year-old actress doing her own stunts. He told EW, “She was often suspended up to 10 stories high and she’d leap from vehicle to vehicle at high speeds. She doesn’t have to do it, but she has absolutely no fear. Usually when an actor becomes more and more successful, they play it safe. But that’s not Angelina Jolie.”

Salt hits theaters July 23, 2010. Can’t wait!
