Angelina Jolie is known to the world as an actress that has played a realm of characters. Born in 1975 to actor Jon Voight and his wife actress Marcheline Bertrand, she got her start when she was 16 as a model then later blossomed into the acting world. Ms. Jolie has starred in many films to include: Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Girl, Interrupted, Gone in 60 Seconds and many more.

For many years, Ms. Jolie was known for her rebellious nature and strange relationships. But, the one side that many never knew was the side of caring humanitarian around the world.

While on a shoot for the filming of the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Angelina visited the areas around Cambodia where the filming was taking place. She couldn’t believe what she saw when it came to the refugees in the area and their living conditions. This lead her to becoming a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. While acting as the Ambassador, she felt inspired to adopt. Ms. Jolie returned on several visits before making the final decision to adopt.

While touring the torn areas around Cambodia, Ms. Jolie found a calling, a way to help the families of Cambodia, she started several foundations. During this time she decided to adopt. She had visited one of the local orphanages where she found Maddox. In other countries it is allowable for single people to adopt and thus, Ms. Jolie adopted the young boy.

Angelina currently has 3 children that she has adopted from around the world. Each from a war torn area that has many social and economic issues. Each area that her children have been adopted in are receiving help from the foundations that Ms. Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt have created.

For each of her children, she has the geographical coordinates birth places. She feels that each of her children have the right to know where they were born and where they came from. She wants them to understand their heritage and know that their family is finding ways to help the countries they were born in.
